Shaft parts can be selected according to the use requirements, production type, equipment conditions and structure, choose rod, forging and other blank form. For the shaft with small diameter, the bar is the main material; while the outer diameter of the ladder shaft or the important shaft is often used in forging, which not only saves material, but also reduces the workload of mechanical processing, but also can improve the mechanical properties.
According to the different production scale, the forging method of blank has two kinds of free forging and die forging. Small batch production mostly adopts free forging, large quantities of production using die forging.
(two) materials for shaft parts
The shaft parts should be made of different materials according to different working conditions and requirements, and adopt different heat treatment specifications (such as quenching and tempering, normalizing, quenching, etc.), in order to obtain certain strength, toughness and wear resistance.
45 steel is a common material for shaft parts, it is cheap, after quenching and tempering (or normalizing), can get better cutting performance, and can obtain higher strength and toughness and other comprehensive mechanical properties, surface hardness after quenching up to 45~52HRC.
40Cr and other alloy structural steels are suitable for shaft parts with medium precision and high rotational speed. This kind of steel has good comprehensive mechanical properties after quenching and tempering.
The surface hardness of bearing steel GCr15 and spring steel 65Mn after quenching and tempering and surface high frequency quenching can reach 50~58HRC, and it has higher fatigue resistance and better wear resistance, and can produce high precision shaft.
